ROB'S TEACHING PHILOSOPHY

Each student needs to learn at his or her own pace.  Course material should be decided by both the Instructor and Student.

Rob uses and teaches a technique that's different than the usual method of playing. It's much more relaxed than the conventional method of playing, using body geometry and the force of gravity to reduce muscular effort and tension. One look at one of Rob's videos will illustrate this point.

We don't use any method books.  You learn what you need to, when you need to.  Any printed material will be supplied by Rob.

Lessons should be performance oriented.  The goal is to improve overall performance, including interacting with other musicians and performing on stage.  Our ultimate goal is to get every student into a new band or orchestra.

Wherever possible,  popular songs are substituted for drills, making practice more palatable.
